Shivrao Yeshwantrao Ghorpade

An industrious contributor to SMIORE’s capability expansion, Shivrao Yeshwantrao Ghorpade helmed the development and upgrade of the metal and ferroalloy plant. A Metallurgical Engineer from the Colorado School of Mines, USA, he installed progressive systems and scientific procedures in the company, while driving performance and quality excellence.

In his illustrious 53 years of experience, he set the vision for the company beyond mining and also steered SMIORE through daunting challenges, including the power cost crisis, BIFR, and the mining suspension by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. Having served as the Chairman and Managing Director of SMIORE until 2017, he served as the Chairman until 2020. He continues to contribute even today as the Chairman Emeritus.
